PS4-Backporter CyB1K zieht sich nach zunehmendem Druck zurück
Die PS4-Homebrew-Szene verliert eine ihrer bekanntesten Persönlichkeiten: CyB1K, ein Entwickler, der sich auf Backports für ältere PS4-Firmwares spezialisiert hat, hat angekündigt, dass sein neuestes Release sein letztes Projekt sein wird.
Sein Abschiedspost offenbart, dass er aufgrund von 21 Copyright-Strikes auf Discord und zunehmendem rechtlichem Druck keine Zukunft mehr in der Szene sieht. Sein Account wurde bis 2027 eingeschränkt, und ein bekannter Kanal, auf dem er seine Backports teilte, wurde gesperrt.
CyB1K beschreibt, wie er durch seine Arbeit viel über Reverse Engineering gelernt hat und wie er es trotz fehlender Programmierkenntnisse geschafft hat, Spiele auf Firmware 5.05 lauffähig zu machen. Besonders stolz ist er auf seine Fähigkeit, komplexe Herausforderungen ohne formelle Ausbildung zu meistern – eine Kritik am klassischen Bildungssystem.
Sein letztes Release, JP0177-CUSA49939, unterstützt mehrere Firmware-Versionen und enthält freischaltbare DLCs. Doch mit diesem Titel endet seine Arbeit in der Szene. In seinen Abschiedsworten erklärt er, dass das Risiko mittlerweile zu hoch sei und er sich ein neues, weniger zeitaufwendiges und günstigeres Hobby suchen will.

Notes: 5.05 / 6.72 / 7.02 / 7.55 / 9.00 / 11.00 Backport! Had to play like 3h to test the DLC in speedrun mode skip all. DLCs are unlocked during chapter 2 in the wardrobe after the second visit to the bar, in hawaii! This is it, this is my last game, it was supposed to be bleach and i do love bleach and i pushed as far as a lot but the heat just raises more and more c&d, now 21 copyright strikes on discord, idk if its still related to the c&d or some idiot just reported or something, that limited my account until 2027 as well as the ban of a known channel for some and not so much for others where i posted these too. Its hilarious the name of the last game haha the irony! I loved doing this and i learned a lot about reversing and pushed my brain to absolute beyond limits to figure all this ways to backport to 5.05, cod was a big big pain but was so cool to be able to do this crap without even knowing code, afterall im just a smarter than average supermarket worker! Im living proof that degrees and studies dont determine our pure native skill if we really try, this is a really outdated thing from the past and should be abolished completely, such a weak mentality! It was really fun but yeah its just too risky thats not worth. Some will be super happy im “gone”, others not really… I need to find another hobby, preferably cheaper and not as time consuming lol
